Hanging Gardens

Located in the heart of a haussmannian district with few gardens, COVIVIO’s new headquarters is born from the connexion of two buildings overlooking Rue de Madrid and Rue d’Edimbourg. Only the next door Paris Conservatory of Music garden provides a little breathing space in this dense neighborhood. The project plots were entirely mineral, with no planted areas or open spaces. To soften this minerality, all the terraces are planted; their materiality is based on the industrial art deco shapes on the existing buildings and on the differences in style between them. The project draws on the colors of the brick facades and the contrasting orientations, to create two different atmospheres and a cascade of gardens on every floor.
