Montparnasse Terrasse

PRD building’s renovation is an opportunity to create an elevated park system, between the Jardin Atlantique, Place Raoul Dautry and the public spaces of the Montparnasse district. The garden created is exceptionally well situated, forming a balcony overlooking Place Raoul Dautry and the avenues along Montparnasse station.
The entire project was designed to take into account the contrasting climatic conditions created by the presence of high-rise buildings. A detailed study of wind, sun exposure and precipitation, led to the design of the different garden spaces according to the situations of comfort for the visitor and plantations: very dry spaces exposed to the sun and drying winds, fully shaded spaces that do not receive direct sunlight, and wind corridors. The terrasse becomes a patchwork of different forestsplaying with elements, while welcothe uses of an urban park.
